Underneath you can see some video's of a project I did. It is called MyMachine, it starts with ideas of elementary school students who draw down their dreammachines. Students industrial design then make the design. Secundary schools then make the product.

Underneath are video's of the result.

Canon EOS 1000D

Also on my trip to France I realized i need a new camera, the blurry images were the prove of that. Nothing more frustrated then coming home wanting to review your pictures and noticing more then 50% is blurry.

That's why I need a new camera. I instantly fell in love with the Canon EOS 1000D, not only is this camera one of the cheapest on the market in terms of reflex camera's it also offers a superbe image quality.

But the 429 euro isn't something I can decide on from one time on the other. But being an industrial designer I am in desperate need of a new one. Let's hope I win the lottery or something like that :d.

Don't hesitate to leave a comment or to give me some suggestions.

moaroom design

Also during my trip in France we went to an exhibition in the cité du design called matières à cultiver. There i fell in love with the design furniture from moaroom, a collaboration of designers, entrepreneurs and artist whom put together a selection of New Zealand design.

Here is a selection of the things i really love:

You see how honnest their construction is, they don't want to hide the way it is made they use the way it is made as a beauty aspect.

Nothing but plain admiration for such a designers.

You can check them out on their website or in their catalogus.

Festo Air Creatures

As i told you before we have an assignment considering kites and we are thinking about making an educational way to introduce kids to aerodynamics.

So I rememberred i saw on Discovery Channel onces something about giant air creatures, and i was interested because if there is some place we need to look for aerodynamics it is in nature.

Here are some movies of Festo:

For more in formation you can always look at the festo website

Biomimicry: Inspire by nature

A lot has been said in the video and probably you can find lots more examples on the Internet. Although it is a very young way of thinking it is a very logical way of thinking, nature has been around for a very long time. Nature has always been able to self regulate, so why can't we see how nature is doing it and apply it in our products.

The website that Janine Benyus was talking about was http://asknature.org/ , it is a very cool website if you have a design problem you can enter the function in the database and then you see how nature solves this problem

Dynamic Textures

Dynamic textures is a material developped by a student industrial design.
I stumbled on this material when we were searching for a solution for a project where we want to make sure that you can't put any warm food in the fridge or freezer.

The material gets little fangs when it contains something that is still hot, so we could make sure the jars don't fit anymore in the fridge or freezer.

This is a really smart material but for now it is still not production ready, I can see a lot of options for this product when it is perfectionized.

The project is focussed on trying to find an electrical appliance that we need to make more ecological.

Kite Gen: A nice vision on the future

Viewing we have a project going on concerning kites, I stumbled on this little movie and principle.
It is a new way of thinking green, it is an innovative project and let's hope kitegen can keep up the promise.

Award Best sustainable product

During the Socrates Intensive Programme 2010 ‘Green Products trough a Multicoloured Approach’ my international team and Iwon the price for Best sustainable product. It was our project NOVA that we made as an assignment for Philips.

The assignment was to create a product out of old LCD or CRT Screens, while tackling this assignment we decided more was needed then just making a product out of old screens.

We wanted to create a complete proces too, meaning that we wanted to inspire Philips to collect and disassemble their own TV's because the raw materials are just rising in price. So we offered Philips a complete businessplan.

And also some techniques how to make a tv more design for disassembly.

Altough we wanted to work on those 3 levels we decided to focus a lill bit more on the product.
We wanted to create a low impact product, so sustainable as possible.

Using a simple click system we were able to create Nova by using only one production proces.
This makes the product very easy and quickly to produce so it is very economical.

The product can be flatpacked, so it has a low impact in distribution and transport.

Nova is as well a hanging as a standing light.
